Greetings to all you people in Club 56 land
Well, we finished up our unit, and quarter last Sunday by looking at whether the environment is really falling apart. And despite Power Point snafu's for the second straight week, we had a great discussion time, figuring out what our role as Christians is to be in this world that is constantly going green.
I don't know if we will ever get to the point of 9-1-1 accessing the eco police to report someone letting water go to waste at a drinking fountain like we talked about, but we do have some responsibility to be aware of ways that we can be users and not abusers of the natural resources on this planet.
Here is where our discussion took us in the Bible.
1- Genesis 2.8-15 - Adam is given some duties to do to care for the Garden of Eden
2- Romans 8.19-22 - Tells us all creation groans in anticipation of the coming of God to reveal His children and be free from death and decay.
3- Psalms 115.15-16 -God has given the earth to all humanity. We should treat the gift with deserved respect. People tend to take this gift for granted. What would it look like if we were all truly appreciative of what God has given us (not just the earth, but our things, our abilities, our families, everything we have,
4- Hebrews 4.13 - We are accountable to God. He sees everything that happens. There is no where to hide from Him.
This last one sounds menacing, and it may be if it were not for the fact that God is loving and gracious. He is willing to correct us, discipline us lovingly, and forgive our shortcomings if we want him to. The truth is that He sees it all anyway, you may as well own up to it, ask forgiveness and leave for Him to deal with as He chooses (and he chooses to remove it every time!) So please see the hope in that last verse with me, OK!
It has been a great quarter - the points competition has been close between the boys and girls. It is now over - winner will be announced on Sunday.
There will be New Discussion Groups made for this coming Sunday. Come and find out whose group you will be in.
OK. Start off the new competition the right way. Our memory verse is Romans 8.18-19. That will be worth 5 points - no bonus for that. But I will give a bonus of 5 points to anyone that commits Hebrews 4.13 to memory too.
See you for the kick off of a new competition on Sunday,
Chris
